MISSA CATALANA (2019)

Missa Catalana is a work for mezzo-soprano and tenor soloists, choir and string orchestra. Written in the traditional form of the mass in six movements (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei), this work was commissioned by the Centre Català of Chile for the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the Orfeó Català Choir, the oldest choral group of Chile. The text used is the traditional one of the ordinary of the mass, but in Catalan language. This score is characterized by the crossing of discursive resources of contemporary music with styles and procedures of historical sacred music such as the Gregorian chant, the ricercare, or the baroque fugue.
